Paper War Title ScreenHello out there Space Cadets!

What a busy week! I haven't had nearly as much time to update the site as I would have liked, but rest assured that the wheels are still moving and playlaunchpad.com is getting better all the time. If you haven't noticed, Paper War is now available in the Games section. Paper War is a really polished "Tower Defense" style game with a great style and some cool twists on the Tower Defense formula. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Paper War was developed by up and coming studio Artlogic, check them out at artlogicgames.com as they've got lots of really cool titles to try out. In all of their games there is an attention to artistic style that really sets them apart. It's rare to see Flash Games as polished as the ones that Artlogic is putting out, so I wish them continued success, and hope that other developers will be inspired by their work.

More updates coming soon!

Globs GameGlobs, a game by the super-cool Dave Fulton, is now available in the Games Section. I feel really excited to share Globs with the Launchpad community because I know the developer personally, and I think he does some very cool work, and it's getting better all the time. I really hope that you'll enjoy his work as much as I do, and really hope that you'll check out more of his work at his site, jacksmack.com. Although he has a great selection of games for all ages, I feel inclined to warn you that some games on his site may not be appropriate for younger players.

Another cool thing I'd like to direct you to comes by way of the wonderful boingboing.net. They've published a list of Games to Get, and they're not kidding around. The thing that sets this list apart from the hundreds of others widely available on the net is its integrity, and its attention to games both large and small that are making major artistic and technological impacts. Each game on this list is incredibly inspiring in it's own way, and serves as a great way to discover the amazing things coming out of the Indie Game development community as well as shedding some light on some awesome major releases that may have slipped under your radar. Again, not all games are appropriate for younger players, play responsibly. Canabalt, is one of my favorites, what are yours?

Little Wheel and Flash Bombs

Little Wheel OpeningNot one, but two new games have been added to the games section! The incredible Little Wheel (Seriously, you need to check this one out if you haven't already) and the action-packed Flash Bombs. I feel like each of these games makes a strong case for the potential of Flash Games, each in very different ways.

Little Wheel, created by the development team at OneClickDog, is striking for a Flash Game in its use of top tier animation techniques, and powerful imagery. There aren't very many web-browser games out there that manage to make quite an artistic impact, or tell such an interesting story. Keep an eye on OneClickDog, because they're going to be going through the roof really soon. I've been told that they're releasing a new adventure game within a month or two, so keep checking back. If Little Wheel is a taste of what to expect from this studio, we're in for a treat.

Flash Bombs is much, much simpler, but very enjoyable in its own way. Unlike the other games posted so far, this game requires very little thought, but quick reflexes and snap judgements. It's a fresh concept that manages to keep a nice old-school feel to it by adding some Arcade sensibilities. Each session is fast paced and frantic. Let's see some high scores posted in the Forums!
